The loudspeaker dedicated to nearfield AND midfield
As well as new speaker drivers (a 5” midrange and a 10” subwoofer) with high efficiency and power handling, the Trio11 Be monitor enjoys all of Focal's very latest technologies when it comes to acoustics and electronics: TMD and NIC technologies; optimised vents that promote dynamic control and perfect bass definition; high excursion, enabling even more linearity of the subwoofer...
Thanks to its class G amplification, Trio11 Be delivers a high SPL (118dB at 1m) and offers a great versatility of use and installation configurations in nearfield AND midfield applications. A key asset, always coming along with an extremely precise sound reproduction and stereo image.
With an extended bandwidth (30 Hz-40 kHz), this loudspeaker is also composed of a 3-way monitor and a 2-way monitor, just like Trio6 Be, which lets you check the mix transfer sound quality thanks to FOCUS mode.
With Trio11 Be, power and versatility are waiting for you!
Feel the difference!
A Focal signature, the pure Beryllium inverted dome tweeter offers a perfectly linear frequency response and a detailed reproduction of the treble. Its exclusive profile guarantees optimum energy transfer from the coil to the dome making a high efficiency tweeter (capable of covering 5 octaves from 1,000 to 40,000 Hz) while providing wide sound dispersion.
The 10” subwoofer's ‘W’-profile cone enables a true optimisation of the frequency response thanks to a precise control of the rigidity, lightness and damping. The balance between these three fundamental parameters is the basis of the monitor's incredible sound neutrality.
The aluminium plate incorporating the tweeter and woofer is adjustable through 360°, in 90° increments, so the Trio11 Be can be used either vertically or horizontally.
This function makes it possible to optimise the monitor's performance based on its positioning in the room and the latter's acoustics.
The cabinet, developed and manufactured by Focal in its cabinetry workshop in Bourbon-Lancy in France, consists of two side panels and a body in MDF measuring between 13/16” (21mm) and 13/16” (30mm) thick: an indicator of the quality of each material chosen, combined with careful attention to the finishes.
Trio11 Be has two side panels in a natural dark red burr ash veneer and a black central body, for an aesthetic rendering that is also discreet and hard-wearing.
Trio11 Be combines two monitors in a single enclosure.
Still breaking them in, but out of the box they amazing.
Incredible sounding monitors, these are wonderful to listen to, extremely big powerful accurate detailed sound, thunderous detailed lows with no need for a subwoofer. At this price point would have liked to see integration of DSP, however this is Focals way and was very much aware when purchasing.
Here comes the negative, and it is not sound related but at this price point, I consider it a big deal. Quality control is lacking, the 5 inch Mid driver is not centre in either monitor, but a lot worse in one. The driver is not centred in its housing, the gap between the right side of the driver and the housing only one millimeter and the gap between the left side of the driver and housing just under 5 millimeters. It is definitely noticeable and not a big deal in a low cost monitor but for several thousand dollars per monitor, not acceptable. It takes no more than a bit of care and a few extra seconds during assembly to ensure a driver is centred.
The finish on the cabinets in areas are not quite polished as well as they should be, with very light clouding in areas. They are enormous though and can only be noticed close up.
The other issue is extremely poor packaging, the box is held together with very large staples, inside is a couple of foam blocks and the speaker is wrapped in a thin plastic bag with no protective strips of foam wrap on the speaker. Why this is important, is whilst unboxing, one of these large staples holding the box together caught the speaker while lifting the box upwards as per the unboxing instructions, this has left a noticeable scratch in the finish. Once again at this price point the speakers should be wrapped in a thin foam wrap to protect them from their own packaging.
Lastly I am disappointed that while resolving these issues, I am having to deal directly with the distributor. These issues are not their fault and I should be able to discuss the issues directly with Focal who can then relay a solution to the distributor. I know this is common however I do not feel that anyone other than Focal should have to take the time to resolve a problem which is completely on Focal.
In conclusion I have been purchasing Focal products for years and have been very happy with their audio performance, and I highly recommend the Trio11s, I do love them and know I will keep them for years to come, however I do want to shed light on my overall experience.
If you do purchase any Focal monitors, be extra diligent during unboxing and even consider removing the large staples from the boxes prior to removing the monitors.
Sound musical and critical at the same time. They did not flatter my mixes in anyway, quick to reveal problem areas and translate very well.
My upgrade to the Solo 6 BE, ...these Trio11 BEs are worth every penny.
Excellent clarity and detail from the Beryllium tweeters, makes music listening a devine experience. ...After 10 months of listening pleasure, so far no regrets
This is a marvelous monitor. Supporting my ageing hearing with Phonak’s top-of-the-line hearing aids I close my eyes and am immersed in truly realistic music where every instrument is true to nature. The bass is perfect, not overdone and with my now corrected hearing the treble from the beryllium domes outlines every small detail. The interest for upgrading is gone as I now enjoy perfection.
I cannot be happier! One of the absolute best upgrades one could ever make for a recording studio.
Good!
great audio! best purchase
At first, oh gosh, I thought... Only harsh mids, no low-end whatsoever... But after I remembered it is necessary to burn in the speakers - left them overnight playing in the studio...
Next day found out that they are very nice - pretty detailed low-end, nice precise highs and very upfront mids - amazing!
Phenomenal pair of speakers. Amazing accuracy fantastic detail. A joy to listen to and to work on..
This product is of outstanding build quality and sound production. I have now been working with this product for a small amount of time (approximately two weeks) and in this short time I can report a most exhilarating experience.
The design (switchable two to three way functionality) is proving very useful.
The overall clarity and and sonic dimensions that are delivered by the trim 11Be are extremely impressive and delightful at a range of volumes.
Although a significant investment, I believe the value will be long lasting.

From using the Focal Twin 6 BE's to Hearing the Trio 11 Be's... I thought the Twins's were good until I heard these !! These Monitors are Breath taking !
This speaker isn't anywhere near what you expect from a Pro Audio Speaker it exceeds nearly anything you wanted and more in one superb box .
I have used nearly every brand so far in my professional life as a pro musician and producer and now the Focal series for years . The Trio 11 BE will blow you and anyone else that is in the room with you away as you listen to these larger than life sounding speakers . I had to disconnect my subwoofer that was connected because it just wasn't powerful enough for the 10 inch woofers that come with the Trio 11 BE's . I do not advise anyone to go out and buy these speakers I advise The real musicians that spend most of they're time in the studio creating the music for the millions the serious musicians that don't except second place . The Trio 11 BE will blow your ears away with precision in all aspects of the audio spectrum .
As a professional drummer/producer and sound designer/sample pack producer, I need to update my studio setup regularly. After intensive testing of different pairs of pro monitor speakers to replace my old Adams S-3A's, and also comparing to Focal's SM9, these definitely came through as absolute winners, as well for tracking my own live drums recording sessions as for mixing and mastering. Proud Focal artist/owner!
