Consistent bass
Maestro Utopia Evo has become a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker in order to make it more versatile and easier to install in your listening room.
The bass is very consistent but it still retains Maestro’s characteristic dynamic range and punch. The mid-range register hasn’t been neglected: we have integrated our latest technical innovations. In conclusion, each register reproduced by Maestro Utopia Evo has been enhanced for even more precision and dynamic range.
Evo stands for evolution... Since 2008, when Utopia III was launched, Focal’s technological heritage has grown enormously. Therefore it was essential to integrate the most recent innovations into this exceptional collection.
The sound architecture of Utopia III has been preserved, with the constant intention of reducing harmonic distortion in the fragile mid-range register, which is so very crucial for revealing the artist’s emotions. The two loudspeakers are equipped with Focal’s latest innovations, the NIC (Neutral Inductance Circuit) and the TMD (Tuned Mass Damping) suspension.
Maestro Utopia Evo now offers bi amplification, just like Grande Utopia EM and Stella. Discerning music lovers will be able to fine-tune the type of sound, depending on the timbre and the power they’re looking to achieve. The best components from their generation have also found their way into the Utopia III Evo line: cables made in France, denser acoustic materials inside the subwoofer, double terminal boards and separate crossovers. New finishes with distinctive colour-ways offer many options for today’s contemporary spaces.
The 2017 edition of Utopia III Evo is an iconic line. They integrate a whole range of innovations and essential detailing, making them completely unique. They are still way ahead of any other line.

Our engineers selected the very best components on the market, choosing them from among the finest brands around after testing them in real conditions.
All the internal wiring within the units is crafted in France. While looking at the wiring aspects of these new loudspeakers, we decided to increase the wire gauge of the cabling by 20%. The results can be heard immediately: the sound is even clearer and even more natural.
Finally, for the bass register, the acoustic wadding lining we included inside the enclosure has been thickened for even tighter bass with more control and increased precision.
It was natural for us to capitalise on the research carried out in 2008, which resulted new and exclusive innovations, particularly in the mid-range register.
TMD suspension: this technology provides a linear frequency response curve between 1 and 4kHz, while significantly reducing distortion in this range. The mid-range register benefits from remarkable neutrality.
Neutral Inductance Circuit: stabilising the magnetic field was a challenge to overcome, in order to avoid harmonic distortion and intermodulation. The research carried out enabled Focal’s engineers to come up with an extremely stable magnetic circuit.
Mastro Utopia Evo now offers bi amplification. Bi-amping is now possible by separating the bass and mid-range/treble registers, just like the line’s two top-of-the-range loudspeakers.
The most discerning music lovers will be able to fine-tune their sound by personalising the registers depending on the sound architecture they want. For this reason, the loudspeakers are equipped with a double terminal board.
Utopia III Evo are distinguished by their distinctive colours, inspired by the automotive universe. Maestro Utopia Evo will be available in Ash Grey, in addition to the timeless Black Lacquer and Carrara White. The shape of Utopia III Evo is still the same, just with a revamped, modern style. The loudspeaker enclosure will be lacquered in the same colour all over: the front and side panels will now be identical. Detailing is also paramount; black is making a strong comeback, with a Graphite Black finish for the baskets and the tweeter enclosure. These finish choices provide an overall coherence which is more harmonious and more discreet, emphasising the originality of the new colours even more.
Maestro Utopia Evo is also available in a Noyer finish: Noyer Naturel and Noyer Foncé. This tawny yellow wood, veined with brown, has stunning nuances of colour. With its satin look, plentiful knots and a fine, irregular grain, this variety is extremely decorative.
The Noyer Naturel version matches elegantly with a light-coloured body, whilst the Noyer Foncé finish goes perfectly with a intense-coloured body, bringing even more elegance and warmth to your home decor. And to round off these noble materials and stunning combinations to perfection, the High Gloss varnish adds that final flourish.
For Maestro Utopia Evo, Focal acquired an exceptional batch of French noyer that heralds from a one-hundred year old tree from the Ain region. Thanks to the unique skills of Focal’s cabinet-makers in the FEB workshop, this batch of wood is meticulously worked and treated with the utmost respect. Every piece is therefore unique and handmade. A guarantee of high quality.
Breathtaking!!!
Maestro Utopi EVO resides a the inflection point of super high audio reproduction and value for money. The superb refinement, articulation, powerful presentation, musicality, sound imaging and enjoyment are astounding.
Everything from the impressive shipping crates, the ingenious packaging on casters, make for safe shipping and one person installation. The build quality is superb and a delight to the eyes. This is the 'biggest' speaker in a comfortable floor standing size I have ever encountered.
The Maestro sound envelops the listener with super realism, huge dynamics and astounding imaging. Even my old CD's and LPs now have new dynamic sounds and I hear so much detail and nuances that were never heard on lesser speakers. I am very pleased with Focal and the Maestro Utopia Evo. It is a audio phonic masterpiece.
Just had a two hour demo of the YG2.3 speakers with Gryphon Antileon evo monoblocks. Cool.......sterile........so boring. In came the Maestro evo’s. Wow, me and my fellow listener just looked at each other in amazement. Power, emotion, pure listenability. Huge soundstage when required, small and intimate when called for. There is something so ‘just right’ about these maestros, I have a large 30’ x 20’ x 9’ listening room so was thinking the larger Stella evos might be necessary, but now I’m not so sure. So, home demo pending soon. Just amazing.
Impossible to get a demo, been trying for months to hear this speaker. If you can't hear it, it can't be evaluated vs its competitors.
Magico was relatively easier to hear in person.
Maestro Evo are outstanding loudspeakers with respect to both sound and design. Congratulations on that product! I have ordered mine in white and it is a nice contrast with the black of the (speaker) drivers. One ask I have is regarding the screws used to mount the drivers on the chassis. I do not use the cover of the drivers as the covers impact the sound. The screws are in steel and contrast with the black mounting ring of the drivers. Can you please produce these screws in black in order that the black of the mounting ring of the driver and black screws form a uniform design? And if you produce in black can you please send me a set to exchange the ones in steel?
Thanks.
