The diaphragm is the key component of a loudspeaker and is at the heart of the research carried out by our acoustic engineers. In 2013, after more than five years of research and development, Focal unveiled an exclusive membrane made from flax. The patented Flax cone is a sandwich of very high quality French flax fibre placed between two thin sheets of fibreglass. It meets all the criteria of a high-fidelity membrane: it is light to offer good dynamics, rigid to hold the bass and damped to deliver a neutral, natural sound, without coloration. It is a Focal innovation that is emblematic of many hi-fi products.
